Master
Classes
Effective 2007-2008 School
Year
As a requirement to graduate with a Visual and Performing Arts Academy Diploma, an academy student must complete 70 hours of master class/seminar work. In order to ensure that this requirement is met, there will be
a minimum of eight sessions offered by each of the five strands throughout the school year.
Criteria:
Acceptable Master Class Instruction:
All master classes must be offered by instructors at the professional level of their discipline. Free classes offered by a hobbyist would not count. Specific cases will be reviewed by the Academy Coordinator.
Acceptable Master Class Performance:
All performances must be at a minimum of a collegiate level. A high school performance would not count as a master class. Specific cases will be reviewed by the Academy Coordinator.
Master Class Question Sheet (click to download)
A Master Class Question Sheet must be completed and submitted to the strand teacher who has facilitated the instruction. If the student has attended a session not provided by the academy, the paper will be submitted to his/her strand teacher.
Prior Approval:
Students choosing to complete a master class outside of school must have the class pre-approved to ensure that the class will meet master class criteria. A Master Class Question Sheet must also be completed to receive credit for the experience.
