San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) is a private junior college that was founded in 1977 and is a recognized leader in providing high-quality degree curricula in lower-division health, business and technical fields. Five campuses are located in the central San Joaquin Valley and enjoy the best qualities the California heartland has to offer. The Bakersfield, Visalia, Fresno and Modesto locations benefit from a Valley perspective that offers an express corridor through the state and easy jaunts to scenic pockets of mountains and lakes for boating, camping, hiking and other leisure activities.
The newest campus in Rancho Cucamonga offers accessibility to many of California's most-treasured points of interest. All of the campuses are in thriving business districts, close to food and shopping areas, and easily accessible by city transportation lines. Free parking is provided on campus, and car pooling is encouraged to benefit the student population at all campuses. Graduates are prepared for success through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on, practical experience. All of the programs offered by SJVC focus on the specific skill sets required by local employers in the student's chosen profession.
Admission is open to prospective students who possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must meet basic qualifications as determined through a personal interview with an admissions advisor. Some specific programs have additional admission requirements.
There is a one-time registration fee of $100 per academic year included in the cost of tuition. Tuition is based on full-time enrollment; tuition varies for those attending less than full-time.
The Federal Pell Grant Program, FDSLP, work-study programs, FSEOG, VA, state grants, WIA and bank loans on approval of credit are available. SJVC participates in Imagine America and California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools scholarship programs.
An important key to promoting student success is tutoring. SJVC offers free, walk-in assistance to all students.
SJVC is committed to your success, both personally and academically. If you should have any academic concerns, you are encouraged to contact your instructor.
The Library and Learning Resource Centers provide materials to support the curriculum, aid in independent study, and enrich the college experience. The collection includes thousands of books, hundreds of journal subscriptions, and access to LIRN (Library & Information Resources Network).
Career planning and employment services are offered to assist students in developing effective job search techniques, interview skills, and to assist students in preparing professional resumés.
