Daniel Keever

|
Daniel Keever is a
product of Virginia Beach City Public Schools having
attended Thoroughgood ES, Bayside Junior,
Independence Junior, and Bayside High. Mr. Keever
attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill where he received a Bachelor of Arts in
Political Science and History. His education career
in Virginia started in 1994 when he was a security
assistant at Ocean Lakes High School. During his
time at Ocean Lakes, Mr. Keever taught VA/US
History, Government, and Leadership Skills
Development. Earning a Master’s Degree in
Educational Administration from Old Dominion
University in 2004, he also worked in the Office of
Organizational Development, the Student Activities
Office, and the Superintendent’s Office as Executive
Assistant. From 2006-2009, Mr. Keever was an
assistant principal at Tallwood High. In 2009, he
was appointed principal of Larkspur Middle School
where he served until April of 2012 when he became
principal of Salem High School. Mr. Keever and his
wife Amber have a son (Minor) and a daughter
(Finley) who instantly became SunDevil fans when he
joined the Salem community!

Bryant
 |
Mrs. Bryant joined the Salem
Administrative team in 2011. Mrs. Bryant received a
BA in Biology from the College of Charleston in
1995, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership
from Troy State University in 2000, and National
Board Certification in 2006. Prior to moving to
Virginia Beach in 2011, Mrs. Bryant served as a high
school science teacher, instructional lead teacher,
graduation coach and assistant principal. Mrs.
Bryant is married and has an 11 year old son.

Jairo Padilla

|
Mr. Padilla joined the Salem
High School administrative team during the summer of
2012. Prior to joining the SunDevil family, Mr.
Padilla had an extensive career as an educator. He
first earned his Bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion
University in Secondary Spanish Education. Mr.
Padilla continued his passion for education and
began his teaching career at Princess Anne H.S.
where he taught Spanish. During this time, Mr.
Padilla continued his studies and earned a Master’s
degree from the University of Virginia in Curriculum
and Instruction and an Ed. S degree in Supervision
and Administration from The George Washington
University. Mr. Padilla continued to move forward as
an educator and instructional leader by serving as
assistant principal during the 2006 and 2011 summer
school programs at Princess Anne H.S. This led to
Mr. Padilla’s 2011-2012 role as administrative
assistant at Landstown High School Governor’s STEM
and Technology Academy where he assisted their
administrative team as well.

Leeane
Turnbull

|
Ms. Turnbull is a graduate of First Colonial High
School. She joined the Salem Administrative team in
2009. Ms. Turnbull received a BS in Psychology from
Old Dominion University in 1998, a Master’s Degree
in Education in December in 1998 from Old Dominion
University, and an Ed.S from Old Dominion University
in 2009. Prior to serving as an assistant principal
at Salem High, Ms. Turnbull served as a special
education teacher at both Princess Anne Middle
School (2 years), then at Ocean Lakes High School (7
years). While teaching at OLHS, Ms. Turnbull also
served as an assistant student activities
coordinator, Leadership Workshop Director,
cheerleading coach, and freshman transition
coordinator. She left the classroom while at OLHS
and served for two years as the School Improvement
Specialist. This is her fourth year serving as an
Assistant Principal. |

Wellinthon Munoz

|
Wellinthon Muñoz joined Salem High School in 2003 as
a Spanish teacher and currently serves as Salem’s
School Improvement Specialist and Testing
Coordinator. Before becoming part of the Salem
family, he served in the United States Navy and
worked for the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office as a
Probation Officer. He graduated from Virginia
Wesleyan College with a dual degree in Criminal
Justice and Spanish. His graduate work was completed
at the George Washington University with a Master’s
Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. |

Robert Toran

|
Mr. Toran enters his second year as the Guidance
Director at Salem High School. Prior to that he
served as a School Counselor at Norview High for
seven years. A native of Norfolk, he is a graduate
of Norview High School who went on to earn his
Bachelor of Art Degree in Mass Communications from
Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, NC.
In 2005 he received his Masters of Art Degree in
School Counseling from Norfolk State University in
Norfolk, Va. Outside of his counseling duties Mr.
Toran has been actively involved in coaching
football and wrestling throughout the Tidewater Area
for over 25 years. Mr. Toran and his wife Andrea
have been married for 21 years and from their union
they have four beautiful children; Aleyshia, Andre’,
Robyn and Aaron. |

Harrison
|
Mark Harrison received a BA in Physical Education
from Newberry College in 1980 and his M.Ed. In Athletic
Administration from Slippery Rock University in 1984. He has
served the Virginia Beach City Public School System for 25
years, and enters his 21st year as the Student Activities
coordinator at Salem. Harrison is also a standing member
with the Virginia Interscholastic Athletic Administrators
Association. |

Visual and Performing Arts Academy Administrator
Eva Melatti

|
Eva Melatti received her Bachelor’s degree from the
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and her Master of
Education from the University of Virginia. She
joined the VBCPS staff in the fall of 1987 where she
was hired as an English/theatre teacher at Green Run
High School. In 1989 she moved to Salem High School
when it opened and acted as the theatre teacher
there for 10 years. During that time she was named
the 1998 Citywide Teacher of the Year. Ms. Melatti
was the first fine arts teacher to be recognized in
this capacity. She then moved to central
administration and from 1999-2004 where she created
the school system's distance learning program,
Quality Connection. In July 2004 Melatti was named
the Visual and Performing Arts Academy Coordinator
which opened in September of that year.
