Smokey Bones
Project Grad Fundraiser May 28th

Mark your calendars! Salem HS Project Grad is holding a
fundraiser at Smokey Bones on Wed., May 28th from 5:00pm to
9:00pm. Please come on out and support Project Graduation
while enjoying time with friends and eating good food! 100% of
the money raised will go towards the all-night graduation
party! Thank you for your support!
Spring Choral
Concerts

The Spring Choral Concert for the Visual & Performing Arts
Academy choirs (Vox Harmonia, Academy Choral Ensemble Treble,
Academy Choral Ensemble Mixed) is Tuesday evening, May 13 at
7:00.
The Spring Choral Concert for the Salem High School Fine Arts
choirs (Madrigals, Concert Choir, Mixed Chorus) is Thursday
evening, May 15 at 7:00.

Academy Symphony from Salem High School’s Visual and
Performing Arts Academy will make its Kennedy Center Debut on
May 5, 2008.

IT Fundamentals
– a business course on web design, computer troubleshooting, and

Music Theory I and
II
– learn to read and write music!! See

SAT Preparation
Course
– The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
is a
standardized test
for
college admissions
in the
United States.
The SAT is owned, published, and developed by the
College Board.
Research indicates that preparation for this important test has
a positive impact on student success. This course will be
offered in block A4 in the Fall and Spring semesters. Please

Leadership Course
- this course will teach students skills to be leaders in the
community, school, and business. This is a year course. Please

Diploma Seal for Excellence in Civics
Education:

The State Board of Education has
established the
Diploma Seal for Excellence in Civics
Education. To earn a Board of Education Seal
for Excellence in Civics Education you must satisfy the
following criteria. Be eligible to earn the Advanced Studies
Diploma, earn a "B" in VA/US History and Government, complete
50 hours of community service or voluntary participation. Any
student who enlists in the US military prior to graduation
will meet this requirement. Students must have good attendance
and no disciplinary infractions. Please

SAT and ACT registration deadlines!!!

Juniors are you planning on applying to college? Then you
need to take the SAT and or ACT. The late deadline to
register for the June 7th SAT is May 6th. Go to
www.collegeboard.com to register. The
registration deadline for the June 14 ACT is
May 9th. This is the last ACT opportunity this spring. Go to
www.actstudent.org to register.

Funding Factory Recycling Program

Salem High School
is participating in the FundingFactory® Recycling Program!
This fundraiser is FREE,
and it runs year-round
accumulating constant income for our efforts. We need your support. Please donate your empty printer cartridges and
used cell phones to our
school and
we’ll take it from there! We will recycle the cartridges and cell
phones
through FundingFactory to earn new
technology equipment.
Donated
cell phones and cartridges can be dropped off at the Salem High School
Front Desk. Please

a community of family members and friends to support the artistic

The PTSA Wants You

need to join in order to qualify for the Salem
PTSA
scholarships.
Salem Athletic Booster Club

The Salem High School Athletic Booster Club is a
non-profit organization whose purpose is to ensure that Salem
High athletes have every opportunity for success. We believe
that high school athletics provide a positive outlet while
affirming teamwork and leadership so important to our
community and nation. Click here for membership and volunteer information.
CRITICAL to the success of the club is the
participation of parents, teachers, coaches, and administrators
in all the efforts to generate funding for the program. Results
of the club’s activities have been the ability to procure
equipment, upgrade the weight room, complete the irrigation of
the fields, fund tournament entry fees, contribute monies for
uniforms, and provide scholarships. Last year we provided over
$13,000.00.
